Who are you when no one is watching?

Howdy Reader!

There’s a question I’ve been sitting with lately — one that cuts through the noise and gets right to the heart of authentic leadership:

When the audience is gone… when there’s no one to impress or prove yourself to… who do you become?

Over the past few months, I’ve had to ask myself that question again and again. Between health scares in my family, moving across the country, and re-establishing the foundation of my work, I realized how easy it is to perform leadership instead of embodying it.

That’s when I started a deeper exploration of what I call your Conditions for Success — the behind-the-scenes factors that shape how you lead, create, and sustain your business.

In my latest post, I share:

  • How overextension quietly erodes authenticity
  • A 4-step process to bring your public leadership and private self back into alignment
  • Reflection questions to help you make decisions that feel like you — even under pressure

This one’s a deeper dive, but it’s worth your time if you’ve been feeling the disconnect between what people see and how you actually feel inside your work.

Jim had some big progress this week and should be done with recovery at the end of next week. Keep your fingers crossed!

Until next time,

- Lisa

P.S. I'll be opening the doors to a free way to work with me and explore your Conditions For Success soon. Keep an eye on your inbox for details!

But your brain’s already racing through your to-do list before your feet hit the floor — and even checking email feels like a chore. You tell yourself, “I just need to push through.” But by mid-afternoon, your body’s tense, your patience is thin, and even simple decisions feel heavier than they should. That’s not a lack of motivation....

Pinocchio's nose is growing!

Howdy Reader!I was talking with a client recently who was feeling like she was playing catch-up, and having all kinds of guilt about it. She rattled off half a dozen things that had come up this year to derail her business plans. And while she could intellectually see how they were important to deal with, she kept thinking that if she just put more effort and time into her business it would solve everything. That's when I told her that her brain was lying to her. And there's science to prove...

Howdy Reader! As you're reading this, Jim and I are up in Longview for his surgery. Send us the good juju, wouldja? Thyroid cancer is supposed to be "no big deal" - a quick outpatient procedure. We're supposed to be home this afternoon. But you know, it's cancer, so who really knows what's going to happen until it's done? That's why I wrote this post over the weekend and scheduled it to go out Monday morning (which should be TODAY, if the internet gods are playing nicely!).Having tools that...
