Well now it's September Reader! The first edit of my speaker reel finally arrived, and I am swooning. But this reel is next-level gorgeous and I can't wait to share the final version with you. We've got a few things to tweak before the final cut is live, but when it is, you KNOW I'll be sending you the link! Meanwhile, I'm midway through the short-form video experiment I mentioned in my last email, planning my husband's birthday next week, and putting the finishing touches on this year's retreat (see below for details). A lot is happening in the next month and a half, and I am HERE for it! What's going on with you? ===== This week on the blog... Harvard, Meta, and a French semiconductor manufacturer recently made big decisions about whether to add, remove, or replace organizational capacity. Harvard spent more than a year studying its operating model before eliminating 165 positions. Meta cut roughly 10% of its workforce based partly on the productivity it expected AI to provide. Then those gains didn’t materialize as expected. And Soitec? They saw demand for their AI-related products shooting up and said, essentially: “That’s nice. Put down a deposit.” Before building a new factory, Soitec is requiring customers to make multiyear commitments and put some skin in the game. I love these three stories because they show why copying someone else’s “smart move” might not work for you. Cutting isn’t automatically prudent. Growth isn’t automatically reckless. Moving quickly isn’t always courageous, and waiting isn’t always fear. Context matters. As the business landscape changes around you at a dizzying pace, YOUR context matters event more. If the decision will be expensive or difficult to reverse, you need evidence that it actually makes sense for you before you do it. In my latest post, I look at what these three organizations did, how the Expansion Reflex shows up in capacity planning, and what leaders should prove before making a costly move. ===== This is the last reminder... Just a few seats remain for the Creative Freedom Retreat happening in October. People come to the retreat when something is shifting, there’s too damn much going on, and they need enough space to figure out what matters now. Yes, you’ll leave with direction for the next 12 months. But first, we make room for you to hear yourself again. 10 seats max. If you want to be in the room with a handful of other smart, purpose-driven leaders, I want you there. Got questions? Hit me up. If you're feeling called to join us, this is your invitation. Until next time, - Lisa P.S. This is the only event I'm doing this year. If you want to be in the room and get my eyes on your business, get registered! |

I am back from vacation Reader... We did SO MUCH WALKING in Seattle, and it was GLORIOUS! Out little joint in the Belltown neighborhood was talking distance to all kind of cool joints. Pike's Place Market (home of the original Starbuck's location), the Space Needle, and the Museum of Pop Culture, to name a few. You can see some pictures from day one of our trip on my instagram. Honestly, it's one of the best vacations I've had in a very long time - maybe the best one ever. There were a few...
I am on the road Reader! After a hectic July, Jim and I are finally getting out of town for a belated anniversary trip. One of my Conditions for Success is to have my work schedule match his, so that we can spend quality time together. Right now, that means I'm off Mon & Tues for the foreseeable future. Yep. Jim works weekends. But he's off early enough today that we're driving up to Seattle for a few days to take it all in. We've never been before, and it's always fun to road trip with my...
I think I'm recovered Reader! While I still can't tell you everything, I CAN celebrate that we've completed the video shoot and give you a few sneak peek images: Mad props to my brand strategist, Rachael Kay Albers who flew out to be on-site for the entire shoot. It really takes a village to bring a project like this to life! Now the footage goes to editing. Look forward to the big reveal this fall. Speaking of this fall... October 14-17, here in the Portland area, I'm hosting my very last...
