Iiiiiiiiiit's Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY! Did you read that like it was an announcement for a monster truck rally at the county fairgrounds? No? Just me? Okay then... It is June. The mid point of the year is nearly here. If you're in the Rising Tide community, it's time to dust off the semi-annual planning workshop and consider what you want the rest of the year to be like. On one hand, it almost seems comical to "make a plan" for the rest of the year when it feels like the world is changing at a break-neck speed. I get it. But there's still value in making a decision for yourself about what's really important for the remainder of the year. I've been reading this book* about the different financial lessons of American History. It's a surprisingly humorous and relatable read that's hard to put down! One of the most applicable concepts the author talks about is the difference between "fast time" and "slow time". Slow time is where the majority of life (and work) happens. Fast time is when sudden, often unpredictable events shake things up: If you've done your work during slow time, then you're better positioned to weather the storms or celebrate success in fast time. I'm in the middle of SLOW time right now with all the branding and positioning work we're doing behind the scenes. Neck deep in work with my stylist and creative director, while simultaneously working on copy, new langauge for my framework, and sourcing the team and venue to shoot a new speaker reel. But all this "slow time" work is what pays off when "fast time" comes - when someone sees the new branding, the new speaker reel, or the new languaging and says "Damn! We need to hire Lisa to speak at our next event!" Do I wish things were going faster? HELL YEAH! And also, I'm glad that slow time gives me the ability to TAKE MY TIME and do great work to prepare myself for when fast time finally arrives. - Lisa P.S. Emails are going out today to past clients and attendees about the retreat. If there are any seats left, doors open to the public in July! *That's an affiliate link. I may get a small kick-back if you click and then buy the book. |

Heya Reader! Walmart is rolling out digital shelf labels, and the public suspicion is already high: Are prices going to change in real time? Will shoppers be tracked? Is this efficiency… or manipulation? To be fair, Walmart has said this isn’t about surge pricing. But companies have a long history of saying one thing and doing another, so the mistrust isn’t coming out of nowhere. Once customers start asking, “Can I trust how this price got here?” you’re no longer just making an operations...

"There's no easy 'yes' here. They all have risk."That's what my brand strategist said to me as we were debating the different proposals submitted for my speaker reel project. There was no perfect offer. Each one had upsides and downsides. At one point, I kind of wanted to flip the tables and walk away."I'll just do it my own damn self," I thought to myself. It would be faster. It would probably cost a lot less. I'd have complete control of the project, and it would be "good enough." But then,...
