The questions we don't even know to ask...

Howdy Reader!

This week has been rough. I was SO hoping to launch the new website tomorrow, but we've had a few hiccups. My brand strategist recommended that I wait until after the mid-terms anyway, so it all works out. Plus, it gives me an opportunity to share one more post before we suspend publication for the changeover.

When my oldest was little, he liked to have me hold him up so he could watch my mom cooking in the kitchen. She had a long island counter with the stove at one end. She also had VERY strict rules about kitchen safety:

  • no playing in the kitchen
  • no chairs blocking traffic flow

That basically meant I couldn't prop my toddler up on a chair so he could watch her work. I needed to HOLD him.

Basically, every day was "arm day" for my workout routine!

Kids are curious, and that curiosity can be a double-edged sword. That's what I'm thinking about as we see conversations about AI taking over the public forum. I'm on the fence with it. I see the positive possibilities and the problematic origins of AI. But even more than that, I'm concerned about how it might impact one of our most innate survival skills: curiosity.

You can read more in this week's post: Curiosity Is a Survival Skill. Are We Training Ourselves to Lose It?

Honestly, I believe the future of work and creativity lies in the curiosity of humans. It's a muscle we need to care for, and if we don't, it will atrophy... and at what cost to our future?

Hopefully, the next time I write, it will be to show you the brand spankin' new site!

Until next time,

- Lisa

P.S. The doors to the Creative Freedom Archive All-Access Pass are now closed. Hope you had a happy Halloween/Samhain if you celebrate!

Heya Reader! We are inching EVER closer to the launch of my new website. I have been itching to share it with you! My team meets this week to get all the final ducks in a row, and I'm feeling SO full-on impatient! With the elections coming up on Tuesday, I've been wanting to have something fun and hopeful to share. Watch this space for updates! Meanwhile, let's talk about a guy named Jim. Jim Fixx literally wrote the book on running. He quit smoking, ran marathons, and inspired an entire...

Howdy Reader! The Creative Freedom Retreat is behind us! What an amazing week with some brilliantly gifted leaders. I can't wait to see what next year's event will look like. Actually, I can. In fact, I intentionally took time away from the socials during and after the retreat just to create some breathing room. Jim and I watched the new Matchbox movie with John Cena the other night. Pure brain candy. We loved it! But while I was watching, I started wondering... Mattel spent decades making...

Howdy Reader! When I was a kid, I would wrangle the neighbor kids and charge them money to watch me perform. Every holiday party or family gathering, I was doing the "look at me!" thing to anyone who would watch. I could usually get a few well-meaning aunts to pay attention for a song or a dance, but invariably someone in the room would try to shame me into silence. I was showing off, too loud, too big for my britches, or whatever their story was. Never mind my talent or ambition. I was just...
