Well now it's September Reader!

I'm in the final throes of preparation for our October retreat, and it's had me thinking more deeply about what's next.

All things "Creative Freedom" are winding down as I step into the new chapter of my work. 30+ years in the online space, working with solopreneurs, creatives, and other micro-business owners has been a joy and an honor.
​
AND... I'm also very excited for this new direction because it opens the doors to new possibilites. I now have space for things that I've wanted to try for ages.
​
​One of those things are solo and small group retreats and intensives.
Bespoke, hand-crafted and curated experiences for leaders that need to get out of their every day and see themselves and their work from a higher elevation.
​
Solo adventures that are custom made for each leader, based on who they are, what they need, and what really matters to them. Small group experiences for leadership teams to see each other in a new light, learn how to navigate together, and just be better humans to one another. The whole point is to get out of the everyday, see yourself and your work in a different - maybe even unexpected - way.
​
To give a person the space to breathe and really see themselves and what they're capable of, so that they can return to their work with a fresh outlook and deeper trust in their ability to do that work with greater conviction and courage.
​
What that looks like? Not entirely sure yet, but it's been calling my name for a long time, and I'm looking fowrard to answering that call.

This week on the blog...

Sometimes the right decision is obvious.

Something needs to change, so leadership makes the call and THEN discovers the organization can’t actually do it that way.

Well, crap. Now what?

This week I saw three very different companies make a reasonable-looking decision. But each ran into an earlier decision that hadn’t been settled yet.

I call that earlier, load-bearing decision the First Domino.

It’s the decision that makes the other decisions possible. And sometimes it’s hiding inside something you've dismissed as an unimportant "detail."

For example, you might decide to launch a new offer. Great!

But the First Domino may actually be deciding whether you can stop serving existing clients - or create enough protected time - to deliver it well.

Until that decision is made, the launch plan is mostly wishful thinking.
